Ara Partners Raises $2.5 Billion for Ara Energy Fund I

Ara Partners reached final close on Ara Energy Fund I at its $2.5 billion hard cap, comprising $1.8 billion in fund commitments and more than $700 million in associated co-investment.

Launched in Q2 2025, the Fund held its first close in December 2025 and reached final close 10 months later, attracting existing investors and new institutional LPs, including pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, and foundations across North America and Europe.

Ara launched Ara Energy in partnership with HF Capital to acquire, optimize and, where economically accretive, decarbonize energy assets across the conventional energy value chain. Senior team members Shameek Konar, James Chiu, David Sims, and Matthew Dunn had worked together for several years before joining Ara.

The Fund’s seed portfolio spans three sectors: power generation assets across NYISO, ISO-NE, and PJM totaling approximately 3.0 gigawatts of capacity; U.S. ethanol production assets totaling approximately 400 million gallons annually; and JET, a retail fuel network of approximately 970 stations across Germany and Austria, held in partnership with Ara Infrastructure.

Shameek Konar Partner and Head of Ara Energy, said the strategy targets critical energy assets across power, biofuels, and delivery and distribution, leveraging the team’s operating and M&A experience to increase grid capacity, strengthen energy security and resilience, and extend the life of essential infrastructure.
